(20 reviews)Hadang Meokgeori has become a steady draw after recent media coverage — visitors come from other towns to try its hearty coastal fare. Order the signature tangtangi and the kitchen will also bring out rock-crab soy-fermented side and a nicely grilled jogi (yellow croaker), a homey gesture that locals appreciate. The house specialty, Jeonbok + Sogogi + Nakji Tangtangi, is made with all domestic ingredients: octopus from Mokpo North Port is finely chopped, then mixed with raw beef, thick-sliced abalone, salt, scallion, cheongyang pepper, garlic and sesame for a layered combination of chewy abalone, savory yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) and springy octopus. Tangtangi is eaten with nori, kimchi and cucumber salad, so you can mix bites for different textures and flavors.
